A cake all my family adores goes great with ice-cream
- 100g butter
- 175g caster sugar
- 75g light brown or muscovado sugar
- 125g chocolate (plain or milk)
- 1 tbsp golden syrup
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract /essence
- 100g plain flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder

Preheat oven to 180oC. Grease the pan with butter
- Cake:
- 245g self-raising flour
- 400g white sugar
- 75g unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tp baking soda
- 1 1/2 tp baking powder
- 1/2 tp salt
- 2 eggs
- 2 tp vanilla extract
- 240ml milk
- 240ml water/coffee
- 120ml oil
- Icing:
- 180g dark chocolate
- 226g butter
- 1 1/2 tp vanilla extract
- 230g sifted icing sugar
