  • 4oz margarine
  • 4oz caster sugar
  • 1 tablespoon golden syrup
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 8oz plain flour
  • ¾ cup sultanas
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius.

Step 2

Melt the margarine, caster sugar, golden syrup and bicarbonate of soda in a saucepan over a low heat.

Step 3

When melted, remove from heat and add the plain flour, sultanas and vanilla essence.

Step 4

Roll into small balls and place on a lined baking tray.

Step 5

Press with a fork

Step 6

Bake for 10-15 minutes.
