Jam Buns

This is a simple biscuit type recipe which children would enjoy making (with a little adult help of course!).
Ingredients
- 6 oz self-raising flour
- 3 oz sugar
- 3 oz butter, softened
- 1 egg, whisked
- any flavour jam

Preparation
Step 1
Mix the dry ingredients together.
Step 2
Rub the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Step 3
Add the egg to form a soft dough (may need to add a little extra flour).
Step 4
Form the dough into a roll. Slice the roll to make 12 parts and then slice each part in half. Form into a ball and flatten. Place the buns spaced slightly apart on a baking sheet. Using the end of a rolling pin form a dent in the center of each bun. Put a little jam in the dent.
Step 5
Bake on Gas Mark 5 until golden brown (~10 minutes).
Strawberry jam usually tastes best in this recipe, and if you use the 'no added sugar' variety, that will make it an even healthier snack.
