Family recipe for vegetarians at Xmas
- FOR PASTRY BASES (makes 2)
- 1Lb (16oz) Plain Flour
- 8oz Butter or Margarine
- Large pinch of Salt
- 1/4 Cup of Water
- (Baking beans, Greaseproof paper, Cling film and 2 Pie dishes).
- FOR PIE FILLING (makes 2)
- 1/2 Onion
- 2 Carrots
- 3 Potatoes
- 5 Cauliflower Florets
- 5 Mushrooms (cut into 20 slices in total)
- 100g Green Beans
- 2 Cloves of Garlic
- 2 Tsp's Mild Korma Curry Powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil to fry
- Grated Cheese and sliced tomatoes (to assemble pie)
Chicken Biryani (Chicken with fried rice)

- 500gm Chicken (boneless and medium pcs)
- 1 cup Yoghurt or curd
- 3 or 4 Green Chillies (optional)

- 6-8 tablespoons of Oil : Ghee (preferred)/Sunflower oil

- 10-15 Almonds (optional)
- 2 Egg (boiled and sliced)

- Cinnamon (Darchini): 1/4 of a stick
- Cardamom (Elaichi): 3 small and 3 big
- Clove (Labongo/laung): 3
- Bay leaves (Tejpata) : 3
- Black peppercorns (Golmorich) : 10
- Garam Masala: ½ teaspoon
- Cumin powder (Jeera): 1 table-spoon
- Turmeric powder (Halud/Haldi): 1 tea-spoon
- Ginger powder: 1 table-spoon
- Garlic powder:1 table-spoon
- Red Chilli powder: 1/2 table-spoon

Spicy Indian curry (Murgh Tikka Makhani)

- 8 skinless chicken drumsticks
- 4 tbsp Patak's Tandoori Paste
- 1 tablespoon of lain yoghurt

- 1 Large Onion
- 4 Garlic Cloves
- 1 Piece of Ginger (2inches)
- 6 Chillies green & red (vary to taste)
- 1 Tsp Turmeric
- 1 Tsp Paprika
- 1 Tsp Garam Masala
- 1 Tsp Hot Chilli Powder
- 1 Tin Chopped Tomatoes
- 400g Cooked Chicken Breast
- 6-8 Potatoes (Boiled)
- Salt to season
- 1 Tbsp oil for frying

Easy Chicken Curry in Yogurt Based...
- ngredients:
- For the marination:
- 1. 500 grams of chicken, either with bone or boneless. I prefer using the thigh pieces. If using boneless pieces the cooking time is further reduced
- 2. 1 heaped table spoon of ginger and garlic paste each
- 3. Half a cup of yogurt. I use Greek Yogurt
- For the curry:
- 1. Whole garam masala: 2 cloves, half an inch of cinnamon, 4 peppercorns, 2 green cardamoms, 2 dried bay leaves. Crush these lightly before adding.
- 2. 1 tea spoon of sahi jeera or cumin seeds
- 3. 1 tea spoon of kasuri meethi or dried fenugreek leaves
- 4. 1 large onion finely chopped
- 5. Half a tea spoon of sugar
- 6. Salt to taste
- 7. 1 table spoon of sunflower/vegetable oil
- 8. Half a cup to a cup of milk
