My mum passed this down to me which she inherited from her mother-in-law
- 2lb s/r flour
- 1lb 6oz sugar
- 1lb 8oz currants
- 1lb sultanas
- 1lb margarine
- 4oz lard
- 4oz ground almonds
- 4oz chopped glace cherries
- 10 eggs
- 1 egg cup vinegar
- a little milk if needed

A lovely treacly, fruit-packed malt loaf, delicious as an afternoon snack! This recipe makes 2 1lb loaves
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 3 tbsp malt extract
- 2 tbsp black treacle
- 25g butter
- 350g strong white bread flour, plus extra for flouring
- 100g strong wholemeal flour
- pinch salt
- 14g fast action yeast
- 225g sultanas
- 250ml warm water
- 1 tbsp warm honey, to glaze
