- To decorate. :- 1 sliced apple
- For the sponge.
- 1105g soft butter
- 110g self-raising flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 110g caster sugar
- 2 medium eggs
- 50g cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- For the cream cheese frosting:-
- 225g cream cheese, softened
- 65g soft butter
- 125g sieved icing sugar
- Half a teaspoon of vanilla extract

Step 1
First make the sponge. Preheat your oven 180 degrees. Then mix all the sponge ingredients together with an electric mixer and put the mixture into a 7inch tin. Cook for approx 15-20 minutes. Check if it's cooked by using a toothpick. If it comes out clean, it is ready.
Step 2
Prepare the frosting while the cake is cooling.cream Mix the cream cheese and butter. When nice and creamy looking, then add the vanilla extract. Then slowly add the icing sugar. Then put in the fridge 10 minutes.
Step 3
When the cake is cooled, put on the frosting.Just before you come to serve, Decorate with the apple slices.
You can decorate with other fruit if you don't like apples or miss out the cocoa if you want a plain sponge.
