Rich chocolate cake
Ingredients
- 100g (4oz) softened butter
- 250g (9oz) catser sugar
- 250ml (8floz) milk
- 1 tbls lemon juice
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 225g (8oz) plain flour
- 50g (2oz) cocoa powder

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven at 180°C. Draw round the cake tin on greaseproof paper. Cut out the circle and put in the tin.
Step 2
Stir the lemon juice into the milk. Put the butter and half the sugar into the mixing bowl and beat until pale and fluffy. Beat the eggs into the mixture one at a time. Stir in the rest of the sugar.
Step 3
Sift the flour, soda and cocoa powder together. Beat in half the milk and flour, then the rest of the milk and fold in the rest of the flour. Mix until smooth.
Step 4
Pour the mixture into a cake tin and bake for 1 hour. Remove from the tin to cool.
Enjoy with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream or squirty cream!
