- 2lb apples
- 1/2 cup water
- handful of sugar
- sponge mix
- 6 oz self raising flour
- 6 oz sugar
- 6 oz butter or marg
- 3 eggs
- tin of custard
- oven 200 C

Preparation
Step 1
Peel & chop apples. Stew in saucepan over low heat with the 1/2 cup of water & handful of sugar. Simmer for about 10 mins - depends how "mashed" you like the apples
Step 2
Add all sponge ingredients to a large mixing bowl & mix together until nice & fluffy.
Step 3
Move apples to a large baking dish, add sponge mix over the top, spread evenly
Step 4
Bake in oven for approx. 30 mins or until knife comes out cleanly
Just don't bother faffing about with adding sponge ingredients bit by bit. All in one go. Tastes as good in less time
Serve with custard
