Step 1

Whisk (with an electric mixer) the soft butter and sugar with a pinch of salt until the mixture is white and fluffy.
Add the whole egg.

Step 2

In another bowl mix the flour with 1 teaspoon of baking powder. Add this mixture to the butter-sugar mixture and then add the milk.

Step 3

Add the dried cherries (or cranberries if you prefer).

Step 4

Pour the batter into little muffin moulds (here I used heart-shaped moulds) and bake at gas mark 4 / 180 °C for about 25 minutes.

Sprinkle with icing sugar when cooled.
