Instant French Toast

  • 1 cup of stale bread (ideally French baguette or brioche)
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons of milk
  • 1/8 tsp of vanilla extract

Step 1

Melt the butter in a microwave safe mug in a microwave.

Step 2

Stir cubes of the bread in the melted butter until fully coated.

Step 3

Mix the remaining ingredients in a ramekin and pour over the bread.

Step 4

Push the bread into the custard mixture, until saturated, and leave to sit for a short time until it is all absorbed.

Step 5

Heat in the microwave for 1 min - 1 1/2 mins until the egg is no longer runny.

Step 6

Serve warm and with liberal amounts of honey or maple syrup.
