Ingredients

  • 1 onion
  • 250g cheddar cheese grated
  • 5 tbsp pickle
  • 500g ready to roll all-butter shortcrust pastry
  • Plain flour to dust
  • Egg to brush on

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 180ºc / 350ºf / gas mark 4

Step 2

Mix onion, cheese and pickle

Step 3

Roll out the pastry until 5mm thick

Step 4

Cut out 6 saucer-sized circles

Step 5

Divide the filling equally, leaving a 5mm border around the edge

Step 6

Dampen edges with water

Step 7

Gather edges to meet at the top of the filling and crimp firmly together

Step 8

Put on a baking tray

Step 9

Cook for 25 minutes until golden

Step 10
