Ingredients
- 1 cup dates, finely chopped
- ¾ cup boiling water
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 2 tblsp butter
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 ¼ cups flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- Syrup
- ½ cup sugar
- ¾ cup water
- 1 tblsp butter
- ¼ cup brandy

Preparation
Step 1
Put dates into a bowl, add the bicarb and water & allow to stand.
Step 2
Cream butter & sugar. Add eggs & flour, baking powder & salt. Mix dates & cake mixture together well & pour into a greased pie dish. Bake for 30 minutes at 180°C.
Step 3
Boil water and sugar together for 5 minutes. Add other ingredients & pour over tart. Serve warm.
Serve with ice cream or whipped cream
