Indian style tomato chutney

  • 4 tomatoes, diced
  • 40g of sugar
  • 1 tbsp curry
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • Asafetida spice
  • oil
  • salt
  • freshly ground pepper

Step 1

Heat a little oil in a saucepan. Add cumin seeds, 2 pinches of asafetida then the ginger. Add the tomatoes, turmeric, curry, salt and pepper.

Step 2

Mix, cover, heat on medium for 4-5 minutes.

Step 3

Add the sugar, mix and cook for a further 5 minutes without the lid.
