Step 1
Grease an ovenproof dish (or individual ramekins)
Layer in bread, apples, sugar and butter, finishing with a layer of bread, sugar and dot with butter.
Step 2
Sprinkle with a little water, cover and bake at 180 degrees for 45 minutes. Remove cover and bake for another 15 minutes to brown
serve with single cream
