Cheesy Steak Sandwich

Ingredients

  • Baguette style rolls
  • Rib-eye steak
  • 250g box Camembert
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 or 2 onions (sliced)

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 180oC.

Step 2

Unwrap Camembert and put back in box. Score circle in top of skin, remove and discard. Bake in oven for about 25 minutes.

Step 3

Slice rib-eye very thinly (may help to slice while slightly frozen). Season steak with salt and pepper. Place in very hot griddle or frying pan and sear nicely each side.

Step 4

Fry onion until soft.

Step 5

When cheese has about 5 minutes remaining, place baguettes in oven to warm (don't get them too crispy!).

Step 6

Put steak on chopping board and slice up.

Step 7

Put steak and onions onto a baguette. Spoon over melted cheese.

Step 8

Add American mustard and pepper if required.
