Beef Casserole with Garlic Sausage

  • 2 onions (peeled and sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 300ml beef stock
  • 450g tinned tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 100g garlic sausage (thinly sliced)
  • 500g beef steak (trim off fat)
  • 2 tablespoons oil

Step 1

Preheat oven to 180oC.

Step 2

Brown steak in casserole dish and then remove.

Step 3

Add onions and fry for one minute.

Step 4

Add flour and paprika and cook for two minutes more.

Step 5

Stir in stock. Add the meat back in with the tomatoes.

Step 6

Cook in oven for 1½ to 1¾ hours - but add the garlic sausage when halfway through the cooking time.

Step 7

Check seasoning and serve.
