Ingredients

  • 1 lb demerara sugar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 6 oz butter
  • 1/2 lb chopped nuts
  • juice of 1/2 a lemon

Preparation

Step 1

Put sugar and water in a pan and bring to the boil.

Step 2

Add the butter, stir well and continue to boil for 20 minutes.

Step 3

Stir in the lemon juice and nuts.

Step 4

Mix well together and pour into buttered tins.

Step 5

When nearly set. dip a pointed knife into boiling water and mark the toffee into small squares.
