- 6 large cooking apples
- castor sugar
- strawberry jam
- butter
- custard

Preparation
Step 1
Peel and remove the cores, without breaking the apples.
Step 2
Place in a well-buttered, fireproof dish, which takes the apples without placing them on top of one another.
Step 3
Stuff the apples with strawberry jam and cover with castor sugar.
Step 4
Place a dab of butter on top, cover and cook gently until the butter and sugar forms a syrup.
Step 5
Baste well with the syrup, baste every 10 minutes until the apples are tender.
Step 6
Uncover and brown slightly.
Step 7
Serve with a dab of strawberry jam on each and a pint of hot custard.
