Family receipe of sausage casserole, my kids love this and i think we will need to up the sausages soon.

Ingredients

  • 16 spicy sausages
  • 1 small onion
  • 1/2 clove garlic
  • 1 glass red wine
  • 1/2 pint chicken stock/gravy
  • 1tbs honey
  • splash worcestershire sauce
  • splash balsalmic vinegar
  • 1tbs tomato puree
  • 1tbs mustard
  • pince dried mixed herbs
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • potatoes
  • oven proof dish with lid

Preparation

Step 1

Brown the sausages under the grill, once browned place in a large oven proof dish. Whilst the sausages are browning finely chop the onion and crush the garlic and cook until sticky.

Step 2

Add the re wine and chicken stock to the onion/garlic mix and reduce to a syrup. Allow to simmer for 2minutes.

Step 3

Add the remaining ingredients (except salt and pepper) and simmer for 5minutes. Add the salt and pepper to suit your own taste (i use a pinch of both).

Step 4

Pour the sauce over the sausages, place lid on the dish and cook in the middle of the oven for 1hour.

Step 5

Peel potatoes and bring to the boil, turn the heat down and cook for a further 15-20minutes or until soft. Strain the water and mash, adding butter and milk. You will need to work the potatoes so that they are ready at the same time as the sausages.

Step 6

Serve and enjoy
