Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 220 C /
fan oven 200 C / Gas Mark 7.
Step 2
Sprinkle the 5 teaspoons of
Bisto Favourite Gravy Granules
into a large saucepanand stir in
350ml (12fl oz) boiling water,
stirring until thickened and
smooth. Add the lamb or beef,
carrots, potatoes, mushrooms
and parsley. Simmer for
4-5 minutes.
Step 3
Meanwhile, unroll the pastry
sheet. Cut out a lid for your pie
dish, using the up-turned dish
as a template. Cut out strips of
pastry to fit around the rim, and
use the trimmings to cut out
pastry leaves (if you like).
Step 4
Transfer the meat mixture
to the pie dish. Dampen the
edge of the dish with a little
water and put the pastry strips
around the edge. Brush these
with beaten egg or milk, then
place the pastry lid on top,
pressing the edges together to
seal. Arrange the leaves on top
(if using) and brush the top
of the pie with beaten egg or
milk. Bake for 20-25 minutes,
until risen and golden brown.
Step 5
Serve and enjoy.
Enjoy the pie with some extra
vegetables, such as green
beans, peas or broccoli.
