Ingredients

  • 1 C white sugar
  • 1 C white vinegar
  • 1 C water (if solution is too tart, add more water)
  • 2 or 3 cloves
  • 1 tsp pickling salt per quart

Preparation

Step 1

Cook beets and peel. Slice and place in hot, sterilized jars.

Step 2

Boil vinegar, sugar, and water for 3 minute and pour over beets in jars.

Step 3

Add cloves and salt, and seal as directed.
