Preparation
Step 1
In a bowl, put the eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar, baking powder, aniseed powder and yeast dissolved in warm milk and butter and then beat the mixture until the mixture is smooth. Add the flour, knead for 3 minutes and set aside.
Step 2
Rid the dough of air and then roll out to 2cm thick. Using a round cookie cutter (9cm in diameter) cut out circles. In the middle cut a hole with scissors and make incisions all round like in the picture. Leave to rise for 20 minutes and then with a brush, baste with the egg yolk. Bake in a hot oven at 200 ° C for at least 30min.

As I have never had Algerian food before, this was a very interesting cooking experience! It's a bit like brioche and a bit like a pretzel! Very good. Would recommend.
