Preparation

Step 1

Mix the first 6 ingredients together and add warm water to form a soft dough. Leave to rise for about 2 hours.

Step 2

Divide the dough into small balls. Pat or roll them out. Place a little dollop of the soft cheese in the centre. Wrap the dough around it to form a little ball. Place the balls (they can be almost touching each other) on a baking tray. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle black seeds on top. Bake a Gas Mark 4 for approximately 20 minutes.

Step 3

Brush the buns with honey glaze (mix the honey with a little water to thin it down) and put back in the oven for 5 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy!

To make savoury 'bites' substitute the plain soft cheese for a flavoured one (e.g. garlic and mixed herb flavour) and omit the honey glaze. You can brush them with olive oil instead if desired.
