Hazel Nut Chocolate Strawberry Tart

Ingredients

  • 1 packet of pre made short crust pastry
  • 1 150g bar of chocolate (Dark, Milk or White) which ever your preference
  • 1 carton of whipping cream.
  • handfull of chopped hazel nuts
  • 4 strawberries
  • 10 inch pie tin.
  • grease proof paper and some rice
  • a little butter for greasing the tray

Preparation

Step 1

pre heat oven to 180 gas mark 4
grease the tray with the butter

Step 2

roll out the pastry not to thin as its not ready yet but get it to the about 1cm thick and cut to just the right size of your tin.

Step 3

add the chopped hazel nuts and fold them into the pastry keep folding till evenly distributed. then roll out to 1cm again and place in the tray getting into the edges and cutting off all the end bits. prick with a fork and cover with baking sheet and place rice in sheet cook for about 15 minutes or until golden in colour.

Step 4

melt your chocolate into a liquid try not to burn it. once melted allow to cool for a little while.

Step 5

whip the cream until soft peaks start to form. then take the chocolate and add little by little to the cream folding in gently. you should be left with a very thick consistancy if not try adding a little cocoa powder or icing sugar just to thicken a little.

Step 6

once pastry is cooked allow to cool for five minutes. then add the chocolate mixture and fill the tart case evenly.

Step 7

allow to cool until chocolate looks like its setting well then halve the strawberries and place on the tart equally as it serves eight people so everyone gets one.

Step 8

place in the fridge and allow to set fully it will not go firm but will set like a cheesecake consistancy.

once set serve with a little of the cream from what we saved earlier

Instead of using strawberries you can add any fruit you like, be a bit more adventurous to and try a marbled effect with two or three different types of chocolate. funk it up with smarties or sprinkles.
