Hello Vertical Eating, so tell us...

When did you begin your blog and what inspired you to start it?

I had been using tumblr for a while but moved to an official blog quite recently. I have run blogs, websites or social networks for brands for years but never found something that I wanted to keep doing for myself. I purchased a DSLR and felt that a blog focused on imagery over words would be perfect to drive me to keep using my DSLR and keep learning new photo techniques. My big loves are architecture, interiors and food. Architecture and food can be art & I hope to capture it.

In your wildest dreams, where is your blog going to take you as it develops?

No big plans for world domination, I just would like to meet some interesting people, do interesting things and become a better photographer. If I can get some trip abroad to take photos of great food and architecture, then that will be a big win!

Are you active in the blogging community? Have you met any interesting people through your blog or has it brought you to new places?

My professional career involves being involved in the blogging community and I have met some great people from all works of life like Alex from Daddacool, Kate from WitWitWoo, Barry from the Geek Syndicate and my top tip for the name of the future, James Anderson. Not strictly through my blog but I am sure there will be lots of people and places to come from it!

Do you have a secret weapon in the kitchen?

My frying pan & wok is a very good friend. Secret weapon? Probably my mum or my tablet for when I get stuck or need new inspiration.

What would be your choice of dish or menu if you had to choose your "last meal ever"?!

An all-you-can eat buffet - easy way to be immortal! If my allergies were still a factor, my last meal would be either breakfast (3 cereals, toast & tea, obviously) or the biggest steak you can find without any fat on cooked rare/blue, goose fat roasted potatoes & then fried onions. However if I was about to die right after, I would go crazy and binge on a giant creamy coffee, a Vienetta slice and a big box of chocolates.

What is your earliest memory involving food?

Fresh goats milk and just opened cornflakes on a farm in Devon at 8.15am, unbeatable crisp and raspingly refreshing.

Are there any chefs that you admire in particular?

Not really, although I ate recently at Marcus Waring at the Berkeley and they change the whole tasting menu to fit in to my allergies. They didn't just leave a sauce or element out, they found a substitute that worked. I really appreciated that, showed real class.

How did you get into photography?

I love photography more than other art - there is something moving about animal or historical photography that I consume hungrily. I just want to try and do a small effort towards what the pros do whilst finding my own creative outlet capturing the parts of buildings that I love and people should see.

Which Gourmandize recipe would you recommend? (if none take your fancy add your own and share it with us!)

I think I'll feed my potato obsession and try this one next: Aloo Post Potato With Poppy Seeds
