"Always experiment with ingredients; who knows what you might end up with!"

Hello All That I'm Eating, so tell us...

Can you tell us a bit about your experiences with cooking on a budget as a student, and your 'Feed 4 for $6'.

When I was at University was when I first started getting in to food, particularly different vegetables. I was lucky that I had a great market where I could pick up all sorts of different ingredients and they were cheap too! My series of posts that feed 4 for £6 was something I was asked to get involved in with my local BBC radio station. It's a great thing to do and makes me really think about the ingredients I use.

Can you tell us a bit more about foraging for ingredients? (i.e wild food)

I've been foraging for food for a few years now; it's great fun and really gives you a chance to connect with the area you live in. I am very lucky to have all sorts of wild food around where I live. If you want to give it a go, make sure you know what you are picking (there are some great books on the subject) and that you're allowed to pick where you are.

How active are you in the blogging community? Have you met any interesting people through your blog or has it brought you to new places?

Blogger events are a great place to meet fellow bloggers; I have been to some interesting places because of my blog and have also met well known chefs.

What is your secret weapon in the kitchen?

My mini blender; I didn't realise how much I would use one until I had one. Now I couldn't be without it!

What dish or menu could you not live without?

I don't think I could live without lasagne! I don't have it that often at home but it's something I crave often.

What is your earliest memory involving food?

Probably baking in the kitchen with my grandmother or mum or going on family picnics.

What chefs do you admire most and why?

I really like Nigel Slater for his no fuss approach to cooking and his relaxed style. I also love Raymond Blanc as he is such a pleasure to watch and makes complicated cooking look effortless.

If you could be a contestant or guest on any cooking show, what show would you choose?

It would be great to be on Saturday Kitchen; you'd get to try so many dishes and the guest chefs would be really fun to learn from too.

Which Gourmandize recipe would you recommend? (if none take your fancy, add your own and share it with us!)

These Malteser Smash brownies sound so good!

Any last words or message for our readers?

Always experiment with ingredients; who knows what you might end up with!
