" Grab your spoon and join me! "

Hello Lucy, so tell us...

When did you begin your blog and what inspired you to start it?

My blog's relatively new, but it's been in gestation for three years (I don't rush...). I’m a half Hungarian, half Scot all Liverpool girl who’s been fortunate enough to travel a bit and enjoy fabulous food. Being in the kitchen makes me happy, feeding people makes me even happier. I’m not the most precise of cooks – no Michelin style presentation here, but I do work hard at making sure it tastes good. I only use free range eggs, try to buy organic or at least freedom raised meat, use seasonal vegetables and fruit as much as possible and usually cook everything from scratch.

What kind of people do you write for?

People I'd want to be friends with. Inquiring, interested types who enjoy food and cooking and have a sense of humour!

Are you involved in the blogging community - how do you attract new readers?

This is all still relatively new to me, I began by tweeting as GrabYourSpoon as a way to see how this might work and whether what I have to say was of interest to anyone! Since March 2013 I've built up a following of almost 700 across the world, mostly foodie types, some of whom have become good twitter mates. Now that I'm actually writing my blog and posting recipes, I will continue to use both twitter and facebook and other blogging network opportunities to attract readers. I'd rather build slowly and organically, with people who are genuinely interested in what I'm writing than just ad hoc randoms.

What are your goals for this blog? Where would you like to see it in the next year? Five years?

Ooh. Tough one. To begin with, just building and attracting readers. I'd love to get some feedback (hopefully positive...) on the recipes and ramblings I post. Writing's always been a hobby and my favourite place to be is the kitchen, so being able to combine both is what I'm aiming for. Five years time? An award or two? A book? Who knows? Never say never to anything!

What is your favorite type of cuisine?

I love Hungarian and Italian food.

If you could be a contestant or guest on any cooking show what show would you choose?

Great British Bake-off - all those cakes!!

Are there any chefs that you admire in particular?

Professional: Richard Corrigan/ Jeremy Lee/ Mark Hix/ Tom Aikens / Simon Hopkinson

Cooks: Nigel Slater/ Nigella Lawson / Jane Grigson / Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall

What is your earliest memory involving food?

Licking the spoon while my Hungarian grandma baked amazing cakes. Collecting eggs with my Scottish grandpa from his hen house and having one for breakfast.

Are you or have you ever been a picky eater?

I have an irrational hatred of melon, beetroot & oysters - all food of the devil frankly (no, I can’t explain it). Apart from that, I’ll pretty much eat anything.

Any last words or message for our readers?
