Preparation

Step 1

Spoon 2 teaspoons of sugar into the bottom of your mug and place the tea bag on top flat

Step 2

Boil the kettle to allow it to complete its boiling process, tea leaves release the flavour and goodness within best at hottest temperatures, so you want the hottest water possible going directly onto the tea leaves

Step 3

Pour slowly over the top of the teabag allowing the boiling water to infuse with the leaves and filter through the bag fully, you should see the bag inflate and hear a satisfying sizzle like noise.

Step 4

Once the mug is full of infused water give the tea a quick stir, note by this point the cold mug will have cooled the water inside to a level suitable for adding the milk, milk is known to lose its flavour and goodness by being subjected to extreme heat, as the tea is now cooler this is the perfect time to add and stir in the milk, it will further cool the tea and mix thoroughly with the tea without deteriorating the flavour.

Step 5

Give your tea a final stir and remove the teabag once infused to your liking. Enjoy your cup of tea. If you are making pots of tea remember to add 1 teabag for the pot and 1 for each mug of tea to be consumed, also pre heat the pot by filling entirely with boiling water and leaving for a minute before emptying to fill with tea to ensure the heat and flavour is maintained.

NEVER put milk first, you will have your teabag in cold milk and it will not infuse all of the flavour of the tea into your cup, also you will be pouring boiling hot water directly onto the surface of the milk which will burn the enzymes contained within and you might as well just use UHT milk as you have essentially created that spoiling the goodness of fresh milk anyway.
