Hello gingeybites, so tell us...

When did you begin your blog and what inspired you to start it?

I began my blog soon after I lost my job. I wanted to do something to help pass the time and realised this was my calling. For years I'd been taking pictures of my dinner on phone and this seemed like the natural progression.

If you could go back in time, what is the one piece of advice you would give your younger self as they started out on your blog?

Spend some time reading other people's blogs. It's great to see what else and who else is out there and discover your own style. It took me some time to find my own voice!

What is your favorite dish of all time?

Oh, I love Thai but also traditional roast dinners, particularly belly pork. I always order it when I'm out because it's so much faff to cook at home!

Your photos are great, in your opinion what makes a dish beautiful?

I think its all about colour - you eat with your eyes before you taste so I do try and plate up meals with colour in them.

Do you have a secret weapon in the kitchen?

I love my food processor, it's so versatile but you end up with lots of washing up but that's ok as my other secret weapon is my husband - I cook, he does all the washing up!

What is your earliest memory involving food?

Probably my Dad's eggy bread. We used to have it on Saturdays or in the school holidays. Not sure it's gourmet dining but it's very tasty!

Are there any chefs that you admire in particular?

Yes, my favourite chef is Glynn Purnell - not only is he a true Midlander, he's stayed true to his roots and after training elsewhere he's come back to Birmingham. Even though he's frequently on TV, when we ate at his Michelin starred restaurant on a Saturday night, it was him in the kitchen cooking and not his second in command.

If you could be a contestant or guest on any cooking show what show would you choose?

I would probably be a guest on 'Saturday Kitchen'. I love James Martin and they always seem to have a good time on the show.

Which Gourmandize recipe would you recommend? (if none take your fancy add your own and share it with us!)

I would recommend one of my own - this is so easy to make and perfect for summer - Berry Ice Cream
