Ingredients

  • The citrus juice:
  • 4 blood oranges
  • 4 oranges
  • 10 limes
  • The Jalapeno Syrup:
  • 2 thinly sliced jalapenos
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • the peel of 2 limes
  • The cocktail:
  • 4 cups homemade citrus juice
  • 2 cups white or yellow tequila
  • 1 cup jalapeno syrup
  • ice
  • To garnish: slices of jalapeno
  • Optional: salted rim

Preparation

Step 1

To make the citrus juice, squeeze all the citrus fruit and mix together.

Step 2

To make the syrup, boil the water, jalapeno and lime zest in a small saucepan. Add the sugar slowly and mix with a whisk. Turn the heat down to low until the sugar is completely dissolved and then let cool. Only strain out the jalapeno and lime peel when the syrup is completely cool.

Step 3

To assemble the cocktail: in a large pitcher half-filled with ice, mix the juice, tequila and jalapeno syrup. Finish with the garnish.

The syrup can be kept for about 2 weeks in the fridge.
