Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 200°C.
Mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in a large bowl.

Step 2

Rub butter into dry ingrediants until it looks like breadcrumbs.
Stir in raisins/sultanas.

Step 3

Add milk, a little at a time, until you have a firm dough (may not need it all but don't pour it away yet!)

Step 4

On a floured surface, pat the dough into a circle 1.5-2cm deep.
Cut scones out using a 6cm round cutter.

Step 5

Place scones on a non-stick baking sheet.
Brush with milk.
Bake for 12-15 mins.
Cool on a wire rack.

Step 6

TO SERVE:
Cut the scones in half horizontally.
Spread a little butter on each half.
Top generously with jam.
Squirt a healthy portion of cream on the top and enjoy!

Hmm.. does 'scone' rhyme with 'gone' or 'cone'?
