Cheese and Marmite Scones
Everyone knows cheese and marmite is a great combination, so why not make some of these tasty scones (especially liked by paps!)

Ingredients
- 280g self-raising flour
- 1tsp baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 50g cold butter
- 85g mature cheddar
- 1 egg
- 1tbsp marmite
- 3tbsp milk (plus a little for glazing)

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 190˚C.
Place the flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.
Cut the butter into small cubes.
Step 2
Add the butter to the flour etc, then rub using your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
Stir in 3/4 of the cheese.
Make a well in the centre.
Step 3
Whisk the egg, marmite and milk together.
Pour mixture into the well.
Use a blunt knife to bring the mixture together to form a soft, but not sticky, dough.
If too dry, add a little more milk.
Step 4
Place dough on a floured surface and roll out to 2cm thick.
Cut with a 6cm round cutter.
Gather up the trimmings and repeat until you have no dough left.
Step 5
Place scones on a baking sheet.
Brush with milk.
Scatter remaining cheese on the top.
Step 6
Bake for 10-12 mins until golden.
Cool on a wire rack.
These scones can be served alone or simply with butter, as they are just so soft and yummy!!
