Better Than Sex Chocolate Cake

  • For the Cake:
  • 225g Plain Flour Sifted
  • 350g Caster Sugar
  • 85g Cocoa Powder Sifted
  • 1.5 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1,5 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
  • 2 eggs Beaten
  • 250ml milk
  • 125ml Vegetable oil
  • 250ml Boiling water
  • For the Butter Cream:
  • 50g butter
  • 100g chopped dark chocolate
  • 200g Icing sugar sifted

Step 1

pre-heat oven to 180/ gas mark 4. line 2 8" sandwich tins and put to one side.

Step 2

This is an all in one method. Add all ingredients to a mixing bowl (EXCEPT for the boiling water) and mix until well combined. Then add the Boiling water.

Step 3

Split the mixture between the 2 tins and put in the oven for 1 hour. When cooked leave to cool in the tin for 30 mins then turn onto a rack and leave to cool fully. They will shrink back so don't worry this is what it is meant to do.

Step 4

Pour water into a saucepan and simmer until boiling find a bowl that fits on the saucepan and put the chocolate and butter in and melt slowly.

Step 5

When nicely melted take off the heat and pour in the icing sugar. Whisk until nice and light.

Step 6

Sandwich the cake together with the butter cream and if desired cover the whole cake in it!!
