Narikel Naru/Laddoo (Coconut Ball)

One of the favourite savoury in India and is also offered to God on religious festivals. Lots of variants are available. It can be cooked with jaggery or sugar. This recipe provides the quick and easy way to make them with sugar.

Ingredients

  • 200gm Coconut: Freshly Grated /Desiccated
  • 300gms of Sugar
  • Cardamom (Elaichi): 1-2 small one
  • Water (if Desiccated coconut is used)

Preparation

Step 1

Heat frying pan and put the coconut and stir them to light brown. Add water if using desiccated coconut.

Step 2

Add the cardamom and sugar , stir and mix intermittently till the entire mixture starts getting sticky and golden brown.

Step 3

Make the coconut mixture to cool to be able to handle it with bare hands.

Step 4

Start making small balls with the prepared mixture.
Make the freshly prepared Narus(balls) to cool down and serve them.

Don't let it cool too much as it will become sticky and you cannot make balls out of it
