Hello Emma, so tell us...

When did you begin your blog and what inspired you to start it?

My blog went live late February 2013 but I had been working on it for months and months before hand. Getting ideas in place and researching what to do once my blog was live! What inspired me was a bunch of different things first and foremost I was really lucky to grow up in a house where home bakes were always on offer and like many bloggers I read and follow a large number of other blogs and thought, hey, I could do that!

Your blog is fairly new, but it's off to a flying start! In your wildest dreams where is it going to take you?

I try not to over think things too much, especially when you read or hear about the success that other bloggers have had. I guess its the dream to get the chance to develop my own cookbook, but then there is nothing stopping me doing it with the new technology available, Kindle has given us all the chance to be authors. But I just hope to continue to enjoy myself and continue to enjoy the whole blogging experience.

What is your favorite dish of all time?

In some respects I have really simple tastes, I love Macaroni and Cheese with cherry tomatoes running though it.

You clearly take a lot of time over your photos, in your opinion what makes a dish beautiful?

Lots of natural light, I learnt that the hard way.

Do you have a secret weapon in the kitchen?

Not really, but I couldn't live without my digital scales.

What is your earliest memory involving food?

My dad was a fisherman when I was very young and I remember him bringing home live crabs one day and I walked into the kitchen and they were scurrying all around the floor.

Are there any chefs that you admire in particular?

I love almost everything Nigella Lawson comes up with, she can make even the most simple dish look scrumptious and decedent.

In your line of work do you ever get to serve up some of your baked treats to your crewmates?

Only on occasion, sometimes I have been granted weekend leave and I have been able to return to the ship with a few baked goods.

Which Gourmandize recipe would you recommend? (if none take your fancy add your own and share it with us!)

Chocolate caramel brownies with Dime bars look lovely and I can't wait to try them.

Any last words or message for our readers?

Don't be afraid to start your own blog, as long as you do it for enjoyment and not just for profit you will have a blast doing it and make some really good bloggy friends.

Thank you Emma for answering our questions and see you soon!
